Hunter Who Killed Son Rearrested for DWI

The hunter, who mistakenly killed his son, was rearrested after violating the terms of his probation for allegedly driving under the influence.

Leo Albretch came home to find his mail scattered across the street a week and a half ago. His wife thought vandals had destroyed their mailbox, but it turned out to be the latest warning sign from a man who's had his share of trouble over the last couple of years.

Albretch says he was approached a few minutes later by Anthony Klaseus, who admitted he'd hit Albretch's mailbox with his side-view mirror. Klaseus later told police he had had five beers at his parent's house at the end of the cul-de-sac, where he'd been house sitting.

Even though he blew a .07 on a portable breathalyzer, which is below the legal limit to drive, police say Klaseus failed a field sobriety test. They also found two beer cans on the floor of his pickup truck and officers arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving. This isn't the first time Klaseus has been in trouble with the law.

Nearly two years ago, he shot and killed his 8-year-old son, Hunter, after mistaking him for a turkey while the two were hunting near Belle Plaine. At the time of the shooting, Klaseus had drugs in his system. Prosecutors say his arrest for driving under the influence violates his probation for manslaughter because he's not allowed to have any drugs or alcohol or break the law.

Albretch was able to repair his mailbox within a few days but he says it'll be much harder for his neighbor's son to put his life back together.

A judge gave him 60 days in jail as well as 90 days of electronic home monitoring after that. He must also undergo chemical assessment within 30 days and still faces penalties for his DWI.

Are you kidding? When does an 8 year old kid look like a turkey? That is one huge ass turkey.

Was the kid wearing a vest? When I was young or in the field with someone else other than my father I always wore a vest. You'd be stupid as a rock to let your child run around the woods without one.

This is the part that really pisses me off, and I think alot of people are overlooking.

Totally agree. There is no excuse for crap like that. Hell, my 6 year old already knows not to point guns at other people and has pushed other kids for doing so telling them that its wrong. I don't understand people these days.
